For the past twenty years, I have settled down with a cup of tea around this time and scrolled through my photos of the year to assemble a collage of our family’s adventures. I joked that when it came time to do that this year, I would find I only took pictures of plants. As I look back over this first year of Journeywork (and reassuringly confirm that I did snap a few pictures of my family), I am overwhelmed by the joy and generosity our mission has inspired. We set a goal of $2,000 to buy tools and gloves for our volunteers to use, and thanks to your support, we have raised $3,209, which will allow us to get a trailer and even an extra wheelbarrow!

Looking forward, I am potting up native flower seeds that I saved to grow plants for next fall. We are adding names daily to our list of volunteers eager to plant in the spring. Over the winter, I will be speaking with individuals and school, community, neighborhood, and church groups about their ideas for adding more native plants to their grounds. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer or have us come talk with you or your group.
