BioBlitz on Saturday, June 7 at Gwynedd Friends Meeting

Please join us for this free event to explore our local habitat closely and learn what is living there!

From 9:00-12:00 on Saturday, June 7, naturalists will lead walks through the burial ground at Gwynedd Friends Meeting, focused on finding and identifying bees, other insects, trees, plants, fungi, and birds. You can join a different walk each hour. Together we will see how many species we can find and record on iNaturalist.

Wissahickon Trails is partnering with us and bringing their bug boxes and binoculars. It should be a fun morning for the whole family!

Summer Solstice Evening on Friday, June 20 with Jenny Rose Carey

Enjoy an evening under the stars and among the flowers with Jenny Rose Carey, the first speaker for our inaugural Summer Solstice Lecture. She will be sharing stories of her experiences gardening with nature and leading a walk to learn more about what is in bloom on the grounds at Gwynedd Friends Meeting.

Jenny is the author of Glorious Shade and The Ultimate Flower Gardener's Guide. She and her home gardens have been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Wall Street Journal, and on the PBS series The Victory Garden. She is the former senior director of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Meadowbrook Farm in Jenkintown and former director of the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University.

On Friday, June 20, the community will gather at Gwynedd Friends Meeting to hear Mrs. Carey present a dynamic talk about taking our native plant gardening cues from nature. She will share her vast knowledge and infectious wonder for the wildlife interactions she witnesses, and she will answer audience questions. A reception after the presentation will feature information tables for partnering organizations and refreshments from local venues.

This is Journeywork's first summer fundraiser, and we are hoping to raise $4,000 for our school plant grant program and outreach.

We hope you can join us for this relaxing and informative evening.

We are grateful for our sponsors!
