Dear there,

When I was thinking about the kind of organization I wanted to start in 2021, I told my brother that it was important to me that it be a non-profit. He said that he does not like that term--that you should define yourself by what you are, not by what you aren't.
We are learning together.
Through our seasonal gatherings and other collaborations with experts, we have provided opportunities to learn about native plants, mushrooms, trees, pollinators, and other wildlife. Every planting and invasive species removal event is also a chance to learn about our local habitat and the positive impact of adding native plants.
We are facilitating resiliency.
The 5,619 native plants we added to our local habitat this year will provide food and shelter to the organisms that have adapted to them. These plants will not require fertilizers or protection with pesticides or herbicides. Every square foot of lawn that Journeywork has replaced with native plants moves us closer to the climate resilient landscape we need to become the status quo.
We are doing this work joyfully.
This is urgent and serious work. This is the air we breathe and the water we drink. When we come together to plant and learn, though, we can't help but find joy in the digging and watering. We are not engaged in beautification, although we are restoring beauty. We are growing a local response to a national movement to replace our barren landscapes with native plants that benefit all life.
As our Board Secretary, Lisa Mosca, says,
I support Journeywork because I believe that healthy ecosystems support healthy communities through communal joy, clean air, climate resilient landscapes, food for wildlife and pollinators and green oases that inspire creativity and protect and shelter us all. Please support Journeywork to bring some joy to the southeastern PA communities you love.

When you donate $40 or more to Journeywork you will become a member. As a member, you will receive a digital membership card, which you can use for a 10% discount at Edge of the Woods Nursery and a 10% discount at Good Host Plants.
We depend on memberships and individual contributions to fund our outreach and plant grant efforts. We want to make it as easy and as accessible as possible to learn about and add native plants to landscapes everywhere, so we offer our educational events for free or low-cost. We rely on donations to make this possible while covering our operating expenses.
Our goal is to raise $7,500 by December 31 to keep this work going and growing. We appreciate a donation in any amount, and every donation is tax-deductible. If your employer has a match program, your gift can make twice the impact!
Thank you for your support!
With tremendous gratitude,
Paige
